Dining Room and Pool Renovations Underway at Vista del Monte

As Vista del Monte looks toward the future, two major projects are underway at the community that will enhance the resident experience – the refurbishment of the indoor pool and the expansion of the dining room.

“We’re responding to our growing resident population and their needs and desires,” said Executive Director Douglas Tucker. “These renovations will help meet those expectations.”

The 1,800 square-foot expansion to the dining room includes a new grand entrance, indoor-outdoor patio area called the Parkview Lounge, and a bistro that will boast a featured menu.

Two new serving stations will be used for special occasions as well as for cooking demonstrations by Vista’s executive chef. In the post-pandemic environment, one of the biggest changes was the elimination of the buffet table and salad bar, which will mean exclusive table service for each meal. “We wanted to give residents a true full-service dining experience,” Douglas said. “The Santa Barbara weather allows us to bring the outdoors in and vice versa. An added bonus will be the new double-sided fireplace to enjoy during cool evenings.”

The expanded space will also serve as a location for entertainers and social gatherings and features a private dining room well-suited to family or group gatherings. The new dining room is scheduled for completion in January 2022.

Across from the dining room is the community’s renowned Fitness and Aquatic Center. The Center’s newly remodeled and refurbished indoor pool and surrounding area is scheduled to open in late spring. Much of the aging infrastructure was replaced including the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The pool floor and walls have been resurfaced and retiled. A durable non-slip surface was applied to the surrounding deck and a new lift has been installed for those needing help entering the water. Two large murals depicting ocean waves were added to the interior walls.

“Our goal was to transform the pool into something reminiscent of what you might see in a nice hotel or spa,” Douglas said. “We want the Aquatic Center to not only appeal to residents but to guests in the surrounding community as well.”
