Meet England Oaks Resident Advisory Board Member Linda Yeager!

One of the first people you’ll meet when you move to England Oaks Adult Living Community is Resident Advisory Board member Linda Yeager. Armed with a welcome basket full of goodies and a warm smile, the former beautician and barber is a 16 year resident of England Oaks.

Drawn to the lifestyle and the beautiful grounds, Linda was just under the age requirement for the 55+ community when she first moved in.

“My husband was 55, so I got in on his coattails!” she laughs.

Linda quickly jumped into community life. As a member of the Resident Advisory Board she reaches out to residents in her “zone” to solicit ideas for new activities or suggestions for improvements.  She also publishes Little Acorn, the monthly community newsletter.

One of Linda’s favorite England Oaks activities are the art classes where she’s been exploring water colors, acrylics and rock painting. “Part of what I enjoy is just being with other people, and then there’s just seeing what you can make from nothing.”

With COVID she’s been impressed by how the community has found safe ways to open up activities like Bible Study, water exercise and dominoes, “We’re all learning to adapt and figure out ways to come together safely. It’s a good feeling to be in a community, especially now. We all look out for each other.”

What drew her to England Oaks initially was the worry-free lifestyle and the quiet tree-lined streets, but what’s kept her is the people. “It really does feel like family here.”
