Through personalized matching and ongoing support, we’re helping people stay rooted in their communities, make meaningful connections, and explore a different approach to shared living.
If you own your home or are a master tenant with an extra bedroom, ADU, or in-law unit, Home Match can help you explore sharing that space with someone who may complement your household.
Home sharing can provide additional income, optional help with agreed-upon household tasks, and more connection at home. Our Alameda County staff provides personalized guidance throughout the process, while you remain involved in deciding who you want to live with.
If the cost of a traditional studio or one-bedroom is putting housing out of reach, Home Match offers another option. We connect eligible Home Seekers with local Home Providers who have space available to share.
Our staff gets to know your schedule, preferences, and lifestyle to explore compatible living arrangements—not simply available rooms. And with one application, eligible Home Seekers can be considered for Home Match opportunities across five Bay Area counties.

Our Alameda staff gets to know you, your available space, and what you’re looking for in a shared living arrangement. We guide you through screening, potential introductions, and establishing expectations with your match, while keeping you involved in deciding who you welcome into your home.

Program Director, Home Match Alameda County
Rachel brings a unique combination of leadership, community service, and experience supporting older adults to her role with Home Match Alameda County. Originally from Oakland, she has deep roots in the East Bay and a strong connection to the communities Home Match serves.
Rachel began her career in the music industry in Los Angeles, where her work ranged from personal artist management and record label ownership to serving as a Vice President at Disney and helping launch Hollywood Records.
After 25 years in the industry, Rachel felt called to pursue work focused on older adults and community service. She returned to Oakland, serving as Program Director at Rebuilding Together Oakland before continuing her work with St. Vincent de Paul and later as Director of Active Living and Transportation at Lake Park Senior Community.
Today, Rachel brings that experience to Home Match Alameda County, supporting a program that helps people age in place, creates more affordable housing opportunities, and strengthens community through meaningful home-sharing connections.
Rachel recently moved to San Leandro and enjoys long walks with her dogs, reading, and experimenting in the kitchen.
