As CalFire and partner organizations from other states and countries continue to fight the fires in Southern California, “There is an air of careful optimism about although the emphasis very much on ‘careful’,” says Sean Kelly, CEO.

Residents are returning to both Villa Gardens and La Pintoresca after evacuation orders in Pasadena were lifted. La Pintoresca sustained damage due to trees and tree limbs felled by the winds last week. Team members are clearing debris and buildings will need to be repaired and weatherproofed.

Front Porch is also partnering with other organizations to provide housing for residents whose communities are currently still evacuated or unsafe. We’re grateful to be part of a network of non-profit senior living organizations that help one another during an emergency.

Front Porch continues to provide emotional and material support for our team members affected by the fires. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the HEART Fund. Your generosity will directly support those who care for our residents.

It was a relatively quiet weekend. Fires close to Front Porch communities have mostly stabilized and/or are moving away as winds lessened. With a forecast for higher winds in next couple of days, we remain engaged and vigilant in ensuring the safety of our communities, and we are beyond grateful for the work of the many fire departments that have been battling these fires.

We continue to work with team members who have been affected by the fires, providing temporary housing as well as material and emotional support as needed. Thank you to all who have already contributed to the HEART Fund (Helping Employees At Risk Today). You can make a donation here.

The situation at our Los Angeles area is currently stable and Front Porch is turning its attention to providing support and resources for our team members who have been impacted by the fire. We are aware of multiple team members who have lost their homes completely. Others are in need of temporary housing due to evacuation. We will be on site at Villa Gardens to assess needs and provide support and resources, including financial support from the Front Porch Communities Foundation HEART Fund (Helping Employees At Risk Today). You can make a donation to the HEART Fund here.

Villa Gardens has not needed to evacuate, although close to 100 residents have voluntarily relocated. This will make it easier to evacuate remaining residents, should we need to do so. We are incredibly grateful to the Villa Gardens team who continue to provide care and support to the community.

La Pintoresca, our affordable community in Pasadena, is completely evacuated and safe with only security monitoring left on site.

The Sunset Fire in the Hollywood Hills may present challenges at Kingsley Manor. We are closely monitoring that situation and are prepared with a response to any changes there.

In addition to providing operations support, the team at the Glendale Support Services office has been working with teammates and families who have been evacuated or lost their homes to find temporary housing. Front Porch is also establishing resources to assist team members and their families both near- and longer-term.

For those who need immediate resources and support, LeadingAge California has prepared a list of resources here.

Villa Gardens, our Life Plan community in Pasadena, is located directly across from a fire department and is currently not required to evacuate. Staff are onsite to provide care and services to residents. This situation may change swiftly and we are prepared to respond as needed.

La Pintoresca, our CARING Housing Ministries community in Pasadena, is currently under an evacuation order. Staff are on site to ensure the safety of residents who are still on campus.

Currently, our Glendale office is open. Although we have advised team members that they do not need to report to the office today, we are offering it as a safe space for team members to rest and regroup. Senior leaders have reported and are available to provide support.

Our hearts go out to all who are affected by these events, and we offer our deepest gratitude to all who are supporting the greater community.
