Front Porch in the Media: January – February 2025
Here’s a roundup of articles, news stories and media mentions that feature Front Porch or its communities, programs and services from January and February 2025.
Senior Housing News interviewed Sean Kelly for the article With Eye on Memory Care, Front Porch Embarks on New Growth in 2025. Sean Kelly also spoke with Lisa McCracken on the NIC Chats Podcast to discuss the evolving landscape of senior living.

Front Porch’s response to the wildfires in Southern California was noted both by LeadingAge and McKnights Senior Living. “‘It is a harrowing time,’ Front Porch CEO Sean Kelly told LeadingAge, ‘with so many staff also displaced and several already having lost homes.'” McKnights shared how Front Porch is supporting staff through the Front Porch Communities Foundation HEART Fund and providing “support in the form of hotel rooms, clothing, toiletries, food and more.”
McKnights also announced Bradley Burgoyne’s new position as Executive Director of Sunny View, our community in Cupertino.

San Jose Spotlight reported on the approval of the proposed new Los Gatos Meadows project, sharing Los Gatos senior housing development back on track. “Mayor Matthew Hudes said creating more housing for the town’s older adult population is critical to allow residents to age in place in the community they love. He said he’d consider moving to the Meadows project as he gets older.” The San Jose Mercury News shared the story, along with details from the Town Council: “’I must say this particular applicant, it’s been stellar,’ council member Mary Badame said after the vote. ‘You bent over backwards to satisfy the community, make a project that works, it was topnotch. So thank you for working so hard, and I’m just so happy that you got the unanimous support tonight from all of us.’” Senior Housing News also reported the approval in its In the Pipeline column (paywall).
Well Connected participant and facilitator Tom Norris described many of the benefits of the program on his Substack here. “Isolation can take a toll on physical and mental health, but Well Connected actively combats loneliness. By participating—or, in my case, facilitating—you become part of a supportive network where friendships flourish,” he writes.
Evan Johnson, director of Ruth’s Table, spoke with Open the Doors as part of their Chats with Caring Creatives series about connecting generations through the power of the arts. And a participant at a Front Porch Gallery event shared her experience and inspiration Paper Doll-Making at Front Porch Gallery in Carlsbad.
The Cool San Diego Sites! blog featured some of the history of Carlsbad By The Sea in this recent post.
As part of National Aging Professionals Week, Front Porch shared a press release announcing our new partnership with the International Council on Active Aging.
