At Casa de Mañana in La Jolla, the Foundation’s Casa de Futuro Fund provides scholarships to children of Casa employees. Over the past two years, it has provided $55,000 in scholarships to a total of 11 scholars. The program is a partnership between the Foundation and Casa’s scholarship committee to raise the funds, and the San Diego Foundation, which administers and disburses the funds. Awards typically range from $4,000 to $6,000 per student per year.
Four years ago, Villa’s executive director encouraged Kohar to apply for an educational scholarship through the Foundation. “The process was easy, and I was thrilled when I found out I qualified for a $1,000 scholarship to use toward my degree at Cal State LA. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Although we have completed the consolidation of our five separate foundations into the Front Porch Communities Foundation, we want to assure supporters that we will always maintain funds for each of our communities and programs.
